You can find counsellors, sex therapists, life coaches and other therapists in your area who specialise in disability.
The directory was set up to offer people with physical disabilities more choice when choosing their therapy or therapist. It also aims to provide networking and development opportunities for disability therapists.
Are the therapists professionals?
All therapists listed are qualified and active members of associations. They also have experience in disability and may have a disability themselves. They donate towards the running costs of the directory. Whist Spokz People take no responsibility for the listings here (read our disclaimer), please contact us if you have a positive comment you would like to pass on to other clients or if you have had a negative experience with any of the listed therapists. Our aim is to provide a list of reliable, qualified professionals.
Help us grow!
A directory is only as successful as the people who use it. So, please spread the word amongst your friends and acquaintances. Spokz People also have a newsletter sign up at the bottom of each page and we are also on Facebook, so join us and we can stay in touch with you and reach other people too.

Profile: I am a qualified Life Coach and I work with people with physical disabilities who want to achieve more from their lives. I have the expertise to help you achieve your goals, no matter how small or large. I do not focus on a particular impairment, as I work only from the social model of disability. Disability knowledge & experience: I am a wheelchair user. I understand barriers that most disabled people experience which prevent them from living life to the full are either other people’s attitudes, physical and environmental barriers and institutional barriers. This makes life more challenging than for non-disabled people which is why I offer Life Coaching to people with physical disabilities as I have a good deal of empathy. I have been a disability equality trainer for 20 years, with specific knowledge about the Disability Discrimination Act and the Equality Act. I have also run several organisations led by people with disabilities.

How do I work?: face-to-face, online via email, SKYPE or by telephone.
Fees: I offer a free taster session of 60 minutes for anyone interested in life coaching. After that my ‘Lets Start Living Not Existing’ package costs £77 per month for a four month programme (this works out at £2.50 per day – less than a cake and latte!). Every monthly payment includes:
*One 60 minute coaching session * Two 15 minute coaching telephone calls * Emails at any time * Access to my resources, exercises, tools and techniques * An emergency session should you need it to put you back on track.

Libby Webber - counsellor for individuals
Location: Southsea Counselling Service,
The Marple Cross Centre,
Albemarle House, Osborne Road, Southsea, PO5 3LB.
Profile: I’m a fully-qualified, experienced counsellor and a member of BACP. As a wheelchair-user, I’m able to bring my personal life experience as well as my training and professional experience to my work. I work with adults and young people from 16 upwards. I trained as an integrative practitioner, which means I work in the way that best suits you as an individual. This is something we would discuss in our first session together so that we both understand how you would like the counselling process to work for you.
Disability knowledge & experience: I’ve been a wheelchair-user for nearly 30 years following an road traffic accident when I was 17. I’ve attended university and worked mostly full-time since then, both in ‘disability-related’ positions and in ‘mainstream’. I trained entrants to the BBC’s disability production training scheme for 3 years and have produced training material for (amongst others) the Spinal Injuries Association. As an integrative therapist, I bring my ‘self’ to the work, and will readily work with whatever clients bring in terms of ‘issues’ or preconceptions around disability.
Accessible: yes: the centre is on the ground floor and has ramped access into reception. All the counselling rooms are accessible and there is a fully DDA-compliant accessible toilet. There is a door bell outside the Centre, and one disabled parking space (by prior arrangement only). There is a public car park within 2 minutes' walk, and on-street parking (3-hour parking spaces plus single & double-yellow lines) on adjacent streets.
How do I work?: face-to-face or online via Skype.
Fees: £40 per 50-minute session. I offer a free 30-minute consultation session and a £30 concessionary rate to people on income-related benefits and students with a valid ID card.
Available: Monday and Wednesday afternoons till 6pm and Fridays till 6pm. I am usually able to offer a first session within 7 days and if I’m unable to do this, I can refer enquiries on to my colleagues within Southsea Counselling Service or to other sources of information and help.
