We are now running a FREE drop in session and workshops on Friday mornings 11-1pm at the Assist Centre of Independent Living, St. Marks Street, Springhill, Birmingham, B1 2UH.
We have several workshops covering understanding disability and the impact on confidence, assertiveness, body image and relationships with the aim to improve your self-awareness, confidence and skills when dealing with others.
The workshops offers you an opportunity to reflect on how your disability affects your life and surroundings and encourages you to make any changes you wish to make.
If you would like more information on our workshops please contact us.
The groups are kept small (maximum 10 members) and are currently held in the Midlands area. We can offer different locations for groups of people or in-house in other organisations. If you would like to run/assist in this training or provide it in different locations, please get in touch).
There is also the opportunity to set up a support group with the other members once the work shop has been completed.
Costs vary but are in the region of £10-20 per workshop. As part of the government's 'Putting People First' personalisation of care, if you receive an individual budget or direct payments from Social Services, you can ask your social worker whether you can use your budget for any of our services. Your assessed care needs may include wellbeing (which includes your psychological wellbeing) or you may have to ask for a re-assessment to include your psychological wellbeing. If you need advice on how to do this, please give us a ring. Please do not be put off by the cost, if you think this is something which could help you, please contact us to discuss costs as we may be able to offer a discount depending on your situation.
Location and dates: if you are interested in this course, please let us know. When we have sufficient people to start the course in each location we will contact you. Midland based areas at the moment.
